Description

As a Senior Accountant at F.H. Black & Company Chartered Professional Accountants Inc., you will play a key leadership role in managing the full cycle of bookkeeping for a diverse portfolio of clients. You will work for the Enterprise Accounting Division, oversee junior bookkeeping staff, and ensure all financial data is accurate, compliant, and delivered in a timely manner. This position requires advanced technical expertise, strong analytical skills, and the ability to provide strategic insights to clients and internal stakeholders.

ACCOUNTING & PROFESSIONAL SKILLS

  • Manage and oversee the full cycle of bookkeeping for multiple companies and complex client accounts;
  • Prepare and review weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting and analysis;
  • Perform advanced bank, credit card, and other account reconciliations, including resolving complex discrepancies;
  • Prepare and file GST, PST, payroll remittances, T4s, T5s, and other compliance filings;
  • Directly responsible for all aspects of accounting and financial reporting, both internally and for external accountants;
  • Oversee preparation of year-end working papers and liaise with external accountants;
  • Manage job cost tracking and reporting, ensuring compliance with accounting processes and policies;
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and oversight to junior bookkeeping staff.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Professional Accountant with 3 years of relevant experience;
  • CPA designation considered an asset
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and Desktop Accounting software;
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, tax compliance, and reporting standards;
  • Action-oriented, results driven with the ability to work in a team and fast-paced environment;
  • Excellent mathematical and financial skills, with experience in excel;
  • Exceptional priority setting, planning, and problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to multi-task and manage several responsibilities at once;
  • Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy and efficiency;
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal);
  • Confident, reliable and capable of working independently;
  • Knowledge of accounting management systems and procedures;
  • Proficiency in MS Office;
  • The ability to pass a Criminal Record Check;
  • Drivers license and access to a vehicle
Responsibilities
  • Post and review journal entries, ensuring accuracy and adherence to accounting standards;
  • Prepare and analyze trial balances, adjusting entries, and account reconciliations;
  • Manage intercompany transactions and consolidate financial data across multiple entities;
  • Maintain and enhance client relationships through exceptional client service and communication;
  • Oversee invoicing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll processing;
  • Ensure data entry accuracy and efficiency for high-volume transactions;
  • Develop and improve internal bookkeeping processes for greater efficiency and accuracy;
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Accounting Management team.
