JOB OVERVIEW

Job Title: Senior Accountant (Hybrid: Onsite Wednesdays, Remote 4 Days)
Department: Accounting
Reports to: Accounting Manager & Controller

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Accountant is responsible for preparing monthly financial statements, journal entries, account reconciliations, variance analyses, tax filings, and assisting with budgeting and audit processes. This role supervises staff accountants (if applicable), ensures GAAP compliance, and supports system and process improvements.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • Experience: 3–5 years in Accounting; Master’s degree with 2+ years may be considered
  • Supervisory Experience: Preferred

SKILLS:

  • Strong GAAP knowledge and analytical skills
  • Proficiency in G/L systems (Lawson preferred) and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership abilities
  • High attention to confidentiality and detail
    Job Type: Contract
    Pay: $42.00 - $45.00 per hour
    Expected hours: 40 per week

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and review journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Oversee and train staff accountant(s) on month- and year-end close activities
  • Conduct high-level general ledger account analysis (cash, receivables, fixed assets, etc.)
  • Compile and analyze financial variances
  • Develop and implement accounting policies and controls
  • Collaborate with departments to ensure accounting consistency and compliance
  • Support system upgrades/maintenance with Financial Information Systems (FIS)
  • Assist with annual audit and budget preparation
  • Lead or contribute to internal projects and cross-departmental collaboration
  • Foster a professional, respectful, and productive team environment
