POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Accountant will be responsible for a wide range of accounting functions, including financial reporting, account reconciliation, tax compliance, costing analysis, and financial planning and analysis (FP&A). This role requires a high level of independence, strong analytical skills, and a proven track record of hands-on experience across all areas of accounting.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation or actively pursuing.
  • 5-7 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Proven record of hands-on experience with all accounting processes and all areas of accounting.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Experience in costing and financial planning & analysis (FP&A) is an asset.
  • Advanced Excel skills would be considered an asset.
  • Sage X3 experience would be considered an asset.
  • Proven record of implementing process improvements.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Maintain a positive and enthusiastic attitude.
  • Maintain confidentiality with sensitive information.

Responsibilities
  • Record and post daily financial transactions and journal entries.
  • Reconcile accounts and prepare trial balances.
  • Maintain general ledgers.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning and analysis (FP&A).
  • Maintain and analyze costing data to support operational and strategic decisions.
  • Prepare internal financial reports for management.
  • Process payroll, including journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Conduct bank reconciliations, including deposits and electronic funds transfers.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing procedures.
  • Manage intercompany account reconciliations.
  • Prepare and file GST and PST returns.
  • Prepare monthly consolidated financial reports.
  • Create and maintain various reports, including monthly and quarterly ad-hoc reports.
  • Prepare quarterly company and tax information reports.
  • Prepare journal entries and monthly accruals.
  • Collaborate with external and internal auditors.
  • Prepare reports for GST, PST, and Statistics Canada.
  • Contribute to ESG reporting by providing financial data and analysis.
  • Perform daily and weekly bank reconciliations.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Work independently to manage priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
