Chainguard, a fast-growing, unapologetically quirky software company with a distinctly “good vibes” culture, needs a Senior Accountant ready to own it all: month-end close, audit-readiness, and building accounting processes from scratch. What You'll Do Execute the month-end close process including creation and review of journal entries, account reconciliations, and rollforward schedules while shaping and improving everything from reconciliation to reporting. Manage complex accounting areas like deferred commissions, stock-based compensation bonus accruals, capitalization of internal-use software, etc. Support preparation of financial reporting packages and financial statements in compliance with US GAAP Compile and analyze quarterly and annual flux results and providing context on period-over-period variances Build and establish internal controls and documentation of accounting processes and policies. Serve as the go-to resource for thorny accounting questions from Finance, Legal, and other cross-functional partners and provide guidance on accounting matters. Participate in process improvement projects, automation initiatives, and system upgrades Research and implement accounting standard updates, as applicable Liaise with external auditors during interim and year-end audits by preparing supporting documentation and responding to inquiries Support new initiatives and ad-hoc projects, as needed What We're Looking For Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or similar; CPA is a plus but not a dealbreaker. If you earned your CPA while mastering sudoku, double kudos. 3+ years hands-on experience managing general ledger and/or in public accounting Proven technical expertise in US GAAP, complex accounting topics, and the thrill of researching new accounting rules. Experience working with global ERP systems. Self-starter instincts: proactive, independent, always hunting for ways to improve efficiency without getting lonely in a spreadsheet. Curiosity, positivity, and a gift for translating “accounting-ese” to the business masses. Bonus points for SaaS or tech industry experience.
