We’re looking for a detail-oriented and collaborative Senior Accountant I to join our Raleigh office-based accounting and finance team. This is an individual contributor role with no direct reports. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES * Maintain the general ledger, including preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations. * Assist with month-end and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting. * Track and maintain fixed asset records, including depreciation schedules, additions, disposals, and roll-forwards. * Support preparation of internal financial reports and variance analyses. * Assist with tax compliance activities including sales tax reporting, property tax filings, and business license renewals in coordination with external advisors. * Prepare audit schedules and support auditor and tax advisor requests during annual audits. * Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and company accounting policies and procedures. * Assist with tracking and reconciliation of prepaid expenses. * Review contract terms and change orders to ensure proper inclusion in WIP calculations and revenue projections. * Maintain organized financial records and documentation for accounting activities and reporting requirements. * Contribute to process improvement initiatives and assist with documentation of accounting procedures and workflows. * Assist in managing and maintaining accounting‑related workflows within project management software to ensure accurate financial tracking and reporting. * Collaborate with project teams and other departments to support operational and financial objectives. QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS * Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required. * Minimum 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably within the construction industry. * Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, financial close processes, and fixed asset accounting. * Knowledge of GAAP and accounting best practices. * Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail. * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across departments. * Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. * Proficiency with accounting software and ERP systems. * Strong time management skills and commitment to meeting deadlines. Preferred Qualifications * Experience with AIA billing, job cost accounting, and WIP schedules. * Familiarity with multi-entity or multi-project environments common within commercial construction. * Experience with construction accounting software such as Sage 300 CRE, Viewpoint, or CMiC. * Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. * Exposure to process improvement initiatives or accounting system implementation projects. * CPA certification or progress toward CPA preferred. WORK ENVIRONMENT * Primarily office-based role within a collaborative accounting and finance department. * Regular interaction with project teams and other operational departments to support company initiatives and project success.
