We are seeking a Senior Accountant (Contract) to support our growing finance function. This contract role is ideal for an experienced, detail-oriented professional who brings strong accounting knowledge, thrives in a mission-driven environment, and is comfortable working independently in a remote setting.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Accountant (Contract) is responsible for managing general ledger activities, preparing financial reports, conducting reconciliations, and supervising a Staff Accountant. This position plays a key role in maintaining financial accuracy and supporting leadership with timely and actionable financial insights.
Preferred: Experience in addiction treatment or behavioral health accounting.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (required)
  • CPA required
  • 3+ years of accounting experience
  • Solid understanding of GAAP
  • Strong Excel and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities
  • Self-starter who can operate independently in a remote environment
  • Preferred: Experience in addiction treatment, behavioral health, or healthcare accounting
Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily accounting operations and month-end close
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements and reports
  • Reconcile balance sheet and income statement accounts
  • Forecast expenditures and assist with revenue analysis
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies in financial data
  • Recommend improvements to accounting systems and procedures
  • Supervise and support the Staff Accountant, delegating and prioritizing tasks
  • Assist with audit preparation and internal controls compliance
  • Report to and collaborate with the Controller on key financial deliverables
  • Maintain documentation and ensure alignment with GAAP standards
