SUMMARY
The Senior Accountant supports the full range of accounting and financial reporting activities for the general contracting business. This role involves maintaining accurate financial records, managing project-specific and general ledger accounting, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and collaborating with project managers, administrative staff, and the CFO to provide timely financial insights. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong analytical skills, proficiency in construction accounting, and experience with job costing, accounts receivable preparation and collection, and project tracking in the construction industry.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
· Language Skills – Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business forms, journals, and governmental regulations. Ability to draft reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and public.
· Reasoning Ability – Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving many concrete variables in standardized situations. Can multi-task and prioritize.
· Computer Skills – Advanced knowledge and experience in Word and Excel. Knowledgeable in Viewpoint Software and Construction Accounting desirable. Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and timeliness.
· Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
· Experience in audit preparation and interacting with external auditors.
· Understanding of construction contracts, change orders, and typical vendor/customer billing cycles

· Assist in the preparation and analysis of monthly and annual financial statements for the company.
· Manage general ledger accounts including reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end and year-end close processes.
· Perform job costing analysis, track construction project budgets, and reconcile job cost reports to the general ledger.
· Prepare, submit to owner representatives, and manage the accounts receivable processes (issuance of billings to collections).
· Monitor AR Aging reports to ensure timely collections.
· Assist in preparation and monitoring of budgets, forecasts, and financial variance analysis.
· Support cash flow management by maintaining up-to-date cash flow reports.
· Assist with tax compliance activities such as sales tax reporting and other tax filings.
· Coordinate and support internal and external audits by preparing schedules and documentation.
· Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
· Collaborate closely with CFO to provide financial information critical to Company performance and decision-making.
· Support other department staff when applicable.
· Maintain accurate and organized electronic financial records.
· Contribute to continuous improvement of financial processes, internal controls, and Software initiatives.
