EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in Accounting from four-year college or university. One + years’ experience in a staff accounting position preferred. Public accounting experience preferred. CPA eligible/certified is a plus.

Responsibilities

GENERAL DESCRIPTION/PURPOSE

The primary responsibility for this position will be to maintain financial records for a combination of a home building entity and land holding/development companies. The duties of this position will range from the basics of accounts payable and GL accounting to preparing bank draw packages, monthly reporting packages, and assisting with company forecasts. The ideal candidate has a desire to quickly advance their knowledge and understanding of the home building and land development market.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING, AND OTHER DUTIES MAY BE ASSIGNED)

  • Maintain general ledger information and prepare financial statements for multiple companies.
  • Reconcile bank accounts and general ledger accounts.
  • Reconcile interest billings for all land and development loans.
  • Record journal entries related to home closings, land purchases, lot sales, cost of sales, expense accruals, depreciation, etc.
  • Prepare development bank draws by reviewing contractor pay applications, underlying contracts, lien waivers, budget adjustments and contingencies.
  • Help prepare monthly and quarterly reporting packages.
  • Integrate newly formed companies into company portfolio by setting up systems, reporting, and creating non-recurring journal entries.
  • Complete assigned tasks related to month-end, quarter-end, and year-end in a timely manner.
  • Communicate with tax accountants and provide documentation as required.
  • Ad hoc reporting and analysis as assigned.
