Description Senior Accountant Position Summary This role is crucial for ensuring the integrity and timeliness of financial data across the organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and maintaining accurate financial records, supporting internal and external reporting, and contributing to the strategic success of a diverse portfolio of businesses. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Responsibilities assigned will encompass the following core financial and operational functions across multiple entities. Core Accounting Functions (All Accountants) General Accounting & Reporting: Provide timely and accurate accounting support across multiple related entities, contributing to accurate financial statement preparation. Core Processing: Manage Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR), process vendor payments, and ensure proper documentation for all transactions. General Ledger & Reconciliation: Perform routine and complex reconciliations of P&L and Balance Sheet accounts, including bank accounts, debt agreements, and revenue/expense items. Fixed Asset Accounting: Manage fixed asset accounting activities, including analyzing Construction in Progress (CIP) and maintaining personal property assessment records. Month-End Close & Audits: Execute month-end close procedures and provide documentation supporting financial statement reviews and audits. Reporting & Analysis: Prepare financial, accounting, and administrative reports and analyses as needed. System Accuracy: Maintain accuracy across multiple ERP systems and operating modules to ensure consistent financial reporting. Oversight, Problem-Solving, and Complexity Advanced Problem Solving: Apply technical accounting expertise to identify, investigate, and resolve complex accounting discrepancies and operational issues across affiliated entities. Integration & Complexity: Manage accounting activities related to complex entity integrations, acquisitions, and high-volume accounts. Internal Controls & Compliance: Assist in developing, documenting, and refining internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure financial integrity. Leadership Support: Serve as a technical resource to the accounting team, assisting with complex reconciliations and guidance on GAAP applications. Requirements Qualifications Must be located within a commutable distance to Columbia, MO Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills. Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines. Strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail. In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred. Three or more years of progressive accounting experience required; public accounting experience preferred. Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage complex projects and reconciliations. CPA designation preferred.
