Description:
Overview:
Element has an opportunity for a new Senior Accountant to join our growing Global Business Services team based in Edinburgh. Supporting across the wider GL team, this role is focused on the newly enlarged Built Environment business unit, reporting to the Financial Accounting Manager.
This role would be perfect for a highly motivated professional keen to further their development in accounting and finance management.
Responsibilities:
- Month-end management accounts support
- Review and posting of accruals and prepayments, payroll and sales adjustments
- Liaising with international payroll service organisations and accountants as appropriate
- Approval of BACS and manual payment runs prepared by Accounts Payable
- Review, challenge and posting of local finance manager journals
- Upload of financial information and reporting KPIs into Group Reporting system
- GL and balance sheet reconciliations
- Capital projects approval tracking and expenditure reporting
- Providing support to local finance managers and other GBS teams, including AR, AP, Treasury, Tax and Payroll.
- Monthly reporting and analysis development to support local labs
- Support of internal and external audit processes in UK and other territories
- Ensuring an effective control environment
- Ad hoc duties as and when required to support finance applications and initiatives
- Support in move of the full BU onto D365
- Support in the compliance and closure of legacy businesses
Skills / Qualifications:
- Degree and accountancy qualification desirable, but PQ/qualified by experience considered
- Good systems and accounting experience preferred
- D365 experience desirable
- Effective communicator and comfortable working within both a local and wider team
- Self-starter, works own initiative and proactive
- Attention to detail, especially regarding GL transactions
- Positive, can-do attitude
