With a growing demand for estate-related tax services, we are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant with a specialization in estate taxation to join our team on a flexible, part-time basis.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accounting Estate Specialist to join our team. This role will focus primarily on preparing estate files for review by the Director or Manager of Estates. The ideal candidate is organized, self-motivated, and possesses strong technical skills in estate and trust accounting and tax preparation.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 5 years of public accounting experience, with experience in estate and trust taxation
  • Strong working knowledge of the Income Tax Act as it applies to deceased taxpayers and estates
  • CPA designation an asset
  • Proficiency with Taxprep, CaseWare, and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Responsibilities
  • Prepare estate accounting and tax files, including terminal (T1) and trust (T3) returns, for Director or Manager review
  • Analyze and reconcile financial data and documents related to estates and trusts
  • Assist with the preparation of clearance certificate requests to the Canada Revenue Agency
  • Maintain accurate and compliant estate files and working papers
  • Communicate professionally with clients, legal representatives, and financial institutions regarding estate matters
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies or issues within estate files
  • Assist with client onboarding and scoping of estate-related engagements
  • Stay current with tax legislation and estate-related accounting practices
