JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Accountant, Financial and Business Systems will play a pivotal role in supporting the implementation and deployment of a new ERP system. This position involves collaborating with leadership and various departments to develop solutions that align with the district’s strategic objectives and support the implementation of new systems and processes, as well as ensuring the system aligns with internal controls and regulatory requirements. This role will leverage accounting expertise along with strong understanding of computing fundamentals and technical systems to identify areas for improvement across the financial processes.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, accounting information systems, business or finance/accounting. A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in a similar role. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with Tier 1 ERP applications
  • Professional designation CPA (CA, CMA, CGA) in good standing is required
  • Understanding of Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAS)A CISA designation is advantageous

Responsibilities
  • Apply strong knowledge of financial accounting principles and systems to recommend, design, and implement effective process improvements.
  • Establish and evaluate security access controls, including defining and managing role-based access. Ensure the integrity of segregation of duties and internal controls over finance and human resources processes.
  • Oversee, maintain and govern the chart of accounts and data hierarchies and set-up procedures within the financial system, ensuring standardization.
  • Support and optimize financial operations by leveraging extensive experience with ERP systems, including financial modules such as General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Inventory, Procurement, and Payroll.
  • Liaise regularly with managers, directors, executives, and external partners to gain insight into operational and business needs.
  • Assess strategic and operational needs; analyze options, present recommendations to business partners and leaders, and implement technology solutions aligned with objectives.
  • Research design problems as they arise, propose solutions to partners and leadership and execute final design.
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation of finance processes, system requirements, and configurations, ensuring transparency and knowledge transfer to other finance members as required.
  • Conduct and oversee data cleansing activities to ensure data quality and accuracy in support of successful data migration efforts.
  • Develop and execute detailed test plans for financial modules; identify, document, and troubleshoot system issues throughout the testing lifecycle.
  • Lead and manage system testing and user training initiatives to ensure successful deployment and adoption of new solutions.
  • Create and maintain use cases, training plans, and project documentation to support implementations and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Develop a training curriculum for finance staff and provide ongoing training and end-user support to ensure effective system usage and user satisfaction.
  • Collaborate closely with the IT and Human Resources teams to ensure data integrity, accuracy, and consistency, while offering analytical support to Finance leadership.
