Description

Birmingham area law firm seeking detail-oriented, self-motivated, organized individual to join our team. Our clients are large financial, retail and service businesses who engage our law firm to efficiently and effectively collect on delinquent accounts.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • 2+ years of progressive accounting experience, Experience in public accounting or high-volume environments a plus
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with SQL is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience with Business Central or similar accounting software
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Able to manage multiple priorities and tight deadlines

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor degree preferred but not required. 2+ years in Accounting/Finanance
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required. 5+ years in Accounting/Finance
    Job Type: Full-time
    Pay: $22.00 - $30.00 per hour

Responsibilities
  • Manage general ledger activities and execute a timely and accurate monthly close process.
  • Maintain and reconcile a variety of ledgers and reports; examine and correct accounting transactions; prepare journal entries and post to the general ledger.
  • Perform and own bank reconciliations across multiple trust accounts.
  • Support client financial audits and act as a liaison with external client auditors.
  • Identify opportunities for automation and implement process improvements to streamline accounting operations
  • Analyze financial discrepancies and recommend effective resolutions.
  • Review transactional coding for accuracy and consistency
  • Maintain and analyze large data sets
  • Helping with day-to-day accounting operations and special projects as needed with the accounting team
  • Monitor and record financial transactions according to company and client policies and regulations.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments and teams to attain shared goals.
  • Perform data entry and provides general clerical support tasks for the department.
  • Other general accounting functions as needed
  • Supporting the firm’s mission and values, adhering to the Firm Code of Conduct, leading by example, and reinforcing the mission and values with peers
  • Managing client requests and problem-solving accounting issues, which includes working with the client to resolve complex issues
  • Assist compliance/audit departments in processing client audit requests.
  • Developing and implementing best practices to meet firm and client requirements
  • Meet or exceed goals, milestones, and timeliness of specific metrics and maintain regular reports
