Description POSITION SUMMARY The Senior Accountant plays a pivotal role in the financial operations of the organization, ensuring the accuracy of financial reporting, compliance with regulatory requirements, and efficient management of accounting processes. This position oversees month-end close activities, prepares financial statements, reconciles accounts, and assists with audits. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS · Review the technical accounting functions and ensure results are reported in accordance with US generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). · Direct the month-end close process, including general ledger and sub-ledger reconciliations and by verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling transactions and resolving discrepancies. · Partner with Controller and CFO to prepare and distribute monthly and annual financial statements. · Collaborate with various departments to maintain accurate financials. · Manage unclaimed property filings with the appropriate states and regulations. · Work closely with external auditors and tax advisors to facilitate reviews, audits, and resolution of accounting issues. · Maintain capital asset tracking and debt schedule. · Direct the monthly, quarterly, and annual preparation of bank reporting packages. · Flexibility to work on weekends to complete month or year-end financials if needed. · Support the preparation of budgets and forecasts, providing financial analysis and insights to management. · Research accounting rules and regulations. · Document and implement policy, process and procedures for our accounting team. · Maintain the weekly cash forecast. · Other duties as assigned. *J&R Schugel is an equal opportunity employer.
