Description

A leading industrial company headquartered in Oak Brook; IL is searching for a Senior Accountant. As a key member of the finance team, the Senior Accountant reports to the Assistant Controller and is responsible for the day-to-day accounting activities, the month-end close process, and the preparation of financial statements. The Senior Accountant will assist the Assistant Controller and Controller with higher-level special projects. Some travel to Wichita, Kansas may be required.

  • Public accounting experience is preferred

MINIMUM EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA preferred
  • Must be 21 years of age
  • 3–5 years accounting experience
  • Advanced level Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Responsibilities
  • Lead the month-end close process in a timely and accurate manner in conformity with GAAP, including journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Conduct variance analysis, investigating and resolving discrepancies in account balances
  • Maintain and reconcile inventory records for Wichita, Kansas location
  • Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules
  • Oversee revenue recognition and subscription-based accounting principles for subsidiary
  • Responsible for consolidations and intercompany eliminations
  • Prepare monthly financial statements (income statement, balance sheet and cash flows) including flux analysis
  • Analyze debt agreements to understand terms and conditions as well as covenant compliance
  • Understand lease accounting (ASC 842)
  • Key contributor in the annual audit including preparing schedules and audit inquiries
  • Work with Assistant Controller to optimize financial systems and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency
  • Assist Controller and other senior leaders with special projects
