  • Education/Experience:A bachelor’s degree in accounting from a four-year college or university is required.At least 3 years of previous experience as a Staff or Senior Accountant is required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation or equivalent certification.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or NetSuite.
  • Familiarity with Maryland state tax regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Previous experience in a senior or supervisory accounting role.
  • Advanced skills in financial modeling and data analysis tools.

SKILLS:

The Senior Accountant will utilize their strong accounting knowledge daily to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with regulatory standards. Proficiency in accounting software and Excel will be essential for managing complex data sets, performing reconciliations, and generating insightful reports. Communication skills will be critical when collaborating with internal teams and external auditors to clarify financial information and resolve discrepancies. Leadership and mentoring abilities will be applied to guide junior staff, fostering a productive and knowledgeable accounting team. Additionally, analytical skills will support the identification of trends and opportunities for process improvements, contributing to the organization’s financial health and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Senior Accountant is a member of the accounting team whose primary responsibilities are the monthly maintenance of all journal entries; the monthly reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts; the accounting for all commission, bath labor, and project revenue; and assisting with the preparation of financial statements. This individual will report directly to the Assistant Controller and will work collaboratively with other members of the accounting team to ensure all tasks are completed according to deadlines.

RESPONSIBILITIES:



    • Maintain and update all monthly balance sheet reconciliations.

    • Suggest and Post all necessary journal entries.
    • Assist with the preparation of monthly financial statements.
    • Ensure that accounts receivable balances from Sage and Salesforce are reconciled monthly.
    • Ensure, and assist if needed, the posting of Commission Expense, Admin Fee Revenue, and Job Revenue.
    • Ensure all bank reconciliations are reconciled monthly.
    • Maintain and update the Depreciation Schedules.
    • Maintain and update the Amortization Schedules.
    • Assist with the preparation of supporting documentation for all audits or reviews.
    • Adhere to, monitor, and suggest proper internal controls involving the job duties assigned.

    • Remain in compliance and up to date on all company-wide live and digital training.
    • Perform other related duties as assigned.
