Job Description – Tax & Business Advisory Manager

REQUIREMENTS

  • ACCA, ICAEW, CIOT or CTA qualified, with at least 3 years’ post-qualification experience in private practice.
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in practice overall.
  • Prior authority to sign off accounts in a previous role.
  • Strong technical knowledge of UK accounting standards and UK taxation (corporation tax and personal tax).
  • Ability to prepare accounts and tax computations to final stage.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing and developing a team.
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence in holding client meetings and building lasting client relationships.
  • Proficient in Xero, SAGE 50, and Excel.
  • Enthusiasm to maintain and develop professional and technical skills, supported by our CPD resources.
  • Proven track record of delivering work to tight deadlines while maintaining high standards of accuracy.
    Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
    Pay: £45,000.00-£55,000.00 per year

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking an experienced and driven professional to manage a portfolio of clients and lead a team within our growing practice. This role requires strong technical expertise in both UK accounting standards and UK taxation, combined with proven leadership and client advisory skills.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Client Portfolio Management – Manage a diverse client portfolio, providing consultancy-level tax advice across a wide range of areas including corporation tax, owner-managed business tax planning, capital gains tax, inheritance tax, capital allowances, and residency/domicile matters.
  • Client Service & Collaboration – Work closely with the director to maintain our high-level service standards, ensuring deadlines, compliance requirements, and client expectations are consistently met.
  • Team Leadership & Review – Supervise, manage, and review the work of junior and semi-senior staff across bookkeeping, VAT returns, statutory accounts preparation, and taxation work.
  • Personal Tax – Prepare and review personal tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance, and provide personal tax advice where required.
  • Training & Development – Support the professional development of junior team members through training and mentoring.
  • Advisory Services – Deliver high-quality tax and business advice to clients, supporting compliance as well as long-term planning strategies.
