ABOUT THE JOB

Mil-Tek USA is the leading supplier of unique and innovative recycling and trash compaction technology nationally. Our corporate office is in Sterling, Virginia. We provide our customers with tailored environmentally friendly waste management solutions that reduce costs, make their operation leaner and meet regulatory compliance requirements.
Sr. Accountant - works directly with the Controller. The responsibilities include oversight of all aspects of the accounting department – including but not limited to AP, AR, payroll, inventory, financials, compliance - including HR/IT/Admin. Other major responsibilities include reconciling account balances, research, writing memos & procedures, maintaining an accurate general ledger, owning the month-end accounting process / procedures. The successful candidate will combine excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of business and accounting principles to analyze financial reports and forecasts. Must have experience in Balance Sheet, Income Statement and Budget vs Actual Analysis. The ideal candidate also has experience of collaborating with other departments’ staff.

Duties also include ensuring accuracy and effectiveness in all our accounting tasks, with responsibilities to include:

  • Managing Cashflow
  • Managing Inventory Movements
  • Managing Accounts payable processes
  • Managing Accounts receivable processes
  • Reviewing Bank Deposits
  • Maintaining accurate G/L accounts
  • Creating/Presenting Monthly Financial Reports
  • Manage budget processes.
  • Oversee external audit.
  • Researching inventory discrepancies
  • Produce error-free accounting reports and spreadsheets.
  • Work cooperatively with accounting team members.
  • Provide input into department’s goal setting process.
  • Drive month-end and year-end close process.
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
  • Payroll/Benefits Processing
  • Ensure compliance with all HR laws and US-GAAP
  • Accounting Systems set-up/management

Requirements.

  • 5+ years of Accounting Experience, preferably with inventory accounting experience
  • Experience with external auditors.
  • Budget Experience
  • QuickBooks experience
  • Intercompany Accounting experience
  • Fast learner with an inquisitive mind
  • Ability to work quickly in a fast-paced office environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of auditing and accounting procedures
  • Experience with business software packages.
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills
  • Strong social skills with ability to communicate at all levels.
  • Degree in Accounting (preferred) / Finance / Economics
