Job Title: Senior Accountant Location: San Francisco.  Hybrid. Department: Accounting Reports To: Accounting Manager Job Status: Exempt, Full-Time Compensation: $98,000.00 to $105,000.00 per year, DOE; medical, dental, vision & retirement plan ______________________________________________________________________ Summary: This position is primarily responsible for corporate accounting including corporate payroll reporting and recording, corporate benefits and corporate GL account recording and reconciliations. This position will also be responsible for serving as a backup to the Accounting Manager and Commercial & Grants Accountant, as well as other corporate accounting needs.  Essential Functions: Payroll   * Enters, monitors, processes and posts bi-weekly payroll.  * In coordination with HR, maintains and updates ADP payroll records for all staff, new hires and terminations. Processes Personnel Action Forms related to such.  * Files, posts and pays bi-weekly 403b contributions, worker’s compensation insurance. premiums, garnishments and other payroll benefit contributions. * Resolves payroll taxes, withholding/garnishments and employee pay issues with HR and ADP. * Downloads, audits and files appropriate payroll documentation.  * Monitors distribution of live paychecks or other payroll documentation. * Participates in Worker’s Compensation annual audit. * Participates in 403b annual audit. Corporate GL Account Reconciliation  * Monitors, analyzes and reconciles Balance Sheet GL accounts.  * Reviews, analyzes and reconciles payroll, payroll tax and payroll benefits GL accounts.  * Reviews, analyzes and reconciles relevant corporate expense GL accounts.  * Resolves reconciliation discrepancies.  * Prepares and enters approved reconciliation journal entries.  * Creates and posts year-end adjusting journal entries for responsible GL accounts.  * Alerts Controller and Accounting Manager of irreconcilable discrepancies.  * Assists in business tax and annual corporate tax filings. Other Duties * May perform monthly corporate bank account reconciliations. * Assists with monitoring and enhancing current systems/processes for corporate accounting. * Assists Controller and Accounting Manager with special tasks. General  * Applies Generally Accepted Accounting Principles to all functions. Maintains relevant and assigned General Ledger account accuracy. Coordinates with Accounting Manager and Controller to resolve issues in a timely manner.  * Interacts with auditors regarding end-of-year requests and document productions.  * Reviews and analyzes financial data. * Engages in continuing education and/or professional training sessions regularly.  * Supports monthly closing by completing tasks timely and accurately.  * Participates in MHDC-sponsored activities for community development from time to time.  * Adapts to new systems readily.  * Works independently and collaboratively to accomplish position and department goals. * Assists in filing physical documents. * Performs other duties as considered appropriate and consistent with the mission of Mission Housing, including working at occasional community-building activities, programs and events (i.e., annual on-property community activities, Carnaval, Sunday Streets, fundraisers, etc.) – as needed or assigned, during or outside regular business hours.  Communication and Coordination Activities * Maintains a pleasant friendly attitude among company personnel so that a positive working environment exists. Working Relationships * Works and collaborates with various MHDC departments. Minimum Qualifications: * Must have a BA or BS in Accounting or related fields. * 5-6 years of progressive accounting experience in accrual-based accounting for corporate real estate entities.  * Preference for non-profit or corporate real estate or commercial real estate accounting experience. * Experience with preparing financial statements and monthly variance analysis. * Experience with payroll processing and auditing. * Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and fixed asset accounting.  * Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. * Ability to work within a team-based environment. * Ability to handle multiple tasks. * Planning and organizational skills. * Technologically savvy.  Proficient technical skills required – Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, NetSuite. * Yardi experience helpful Physical demands: * While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands; reach, talk and hear. Responsibilities
