JOB OVERVIEW

We’re a growing aerospace and defense manufacturer seeking a mid-level Senior Accountant / Assistant Controller to strengthen our finance team. This role is ideal for an accounting professional with several years of experience who is ready for more responsibility and exposure to leadership. You’ll play a key role in managing core accounting functions, partnering with operations, and preparing for future Controller-level opportunities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • U.S. Citizenship required (due to aerospace/defense compliance)
  • 3–6 years of progressive accounting experience in public accounting (Big 4/regional) or a manufacturing environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA preferred)
  • Solid knowledge of GAAP and accounting functions (A/P, A/R, GL, month-end close)
  • Cost accounting and inventory control experience strongly preferred
  • Proficiency in Excel and familiarity with ERP systems (Acumatica, NetSuite, SAP, Infor, etc.)
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify variances and present solutions
  • A proactive mindset with the initiative to take ownership and drive results

Responsibilities
  • Lead and support monthly and year-end close processes with accuracy and timeliness
  • Prepare financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports
  • Perform cost and margin analysis; maintain inventory accuracy; and collaborate with production and engineering on scrap, cycle counts, and ERP data integrity
  • Oversee daily accounts payable (A/P) and accounts receivable (A/R) operations, including reconciliations and cash applications
  • Prepare weekly borrowing base certificates and maintain cash flow forecasting
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to support business planning
  • Support external audit efforts and coordinate audit preparation
  • Recommend and implement improvements to streamline accounting processes and ERP workflows
  • Partner with cross-functional teams — Sales, Engineering, and Quality — to resolve issues and strengthen financial outcomes
