Description Position Summary We are seeking a qualified and experienced Senior Accountant to join our team and contribute to our success. This role will report directly to the EVP and be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, preparing reports, supporting audits and maintaining strong internal controls. Potential for supervising staff and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations. Key Responsibilities Oversee the entire accounting cycle, including month-end close, general ledger, payroll, and fixed assets for three transportation companies and a holding company. Prepare and review financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow statement) in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) (monthly, quarterly, annually). Manage general ledger activities, including journal entries and reconciliations. Complete month end and year end close processes Coordinate and manage the annual audit process with external auditors. Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Oversee tax compliance and filing requirements. Assist in treasury functions, including cash flow management, banking relationships, and investment strategies. Analyze financial data, identify trends, and provide insights to support decision-making and strategic planning. Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial projections. Monitor and improve accounting systems and procedures. Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team to enhance their skills and performance. Collaborate with other departments to ensure efficient and effective financial operations. On call night and weekend rotation Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 3-7 years of accounting experience Experience in public accounting. Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting principles. Experience with accounting software systems, McLeod (and QuickBooks) a plus. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
