JOB SUMMARY

Opinicus Tax & Accounting (OTA) seeks a highly experienced Sr. Accountant / Payroll Specialist. The talent must hold a deep understanding of bookkeeping, payroll and accounting compliance procedures. The position is a direct report to the Director of Accounting / Payroll, and offers a path to take over the Director of Accounting / Payroll position. Initially, the employee will be the core technician handling the day-to-day accounting, bookkeeping and payroll functions as he/she creates systems necessary for building a team.
OTA is a division within Opinicus, a full-service financial services firm offering an in-house vertical catering to entrepreneurs and high net worth families. We are a fast-growing organization founded on engaging and investing in top talent to serve our clients. The position is for our South Tampa headquarters working alongside the Tax and Financial Planning divisions.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 7+ years of prior QuickBooks bookkeeping experience, and preferred accounting degree.
  • Accounting competency and bookkeeping technical skill mastery.
  • High degree of discretion in dealing with confidential information.
  • Personal characteristics include integrity, trustworthiness, and emotional intelligence.
  • Demonstrated written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, as part of a team and as a team leader.
  • CPA / EA preferred but work experience will replace.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 5 years’ accounting / bookkeeping experience in a CPA setting.
  • Journal entry and debits/credits experience
  • Minimum 5 years’ payroll / payroll reporting experience in a CPA setting.

Responsibilities
  • Bookkeeping via QuickBooks Online; register categorizing, complex reconciliations, fixed asset schedule maintenance and diverse journal entries for small to medium size companies.
  • Payroll processing via ADP Run platform; processing logistics, state / federal report review and troubleshooting.
  • Accounting; transaction review and client facing communication to discuss IRS compliance protocols and reporting preferences.
  • Sales Tax, 1099 and Tangible Tax Return filings.
  • Prospective case pricing and new client onboarding within the Opinicus ecosystem. Including the transition of client books from other vendors to QuickBooks Online.
  • System building that can be maintained by future hires / direct reports.
