Description:
THE RIGHT CANDIDATE WILL DEMONSTRATE THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS:
- CPA accounting designation with 5+ years of experience in finance and accounting; experience working in a dynamic non-profit environment is an asset
- 2+ years of experience with leading a month end close and year end close process, enabling a team to focus on continuous improvement
- A strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles; exposure to Non-profit standards, tax legislation, and risk analysis as they relate to the not-for-profit sector is an asset
- Proficient in Excel, G-Suite and G-Sheets; proficiency in Sage Intacct, Asana is an asset
- Demonstrated ability for continuous improvement around accounting and control processes to enable timely, accurate and reliable financial information

Responsibilities:
- Enable and ensure accurate, timely and reliable accounting information
- Plan, direct and coordinate all operational accounting functions, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger
- Responsible for full cycle accounting
- Provides functional and operational advice, guidance and interpretation on financial and accounting policies, issues, and practices to management, based on the Accounting Standards for NPO’s
- Responsible for asset management including the status of receivables and payables and investments and related cash flow implications
- Accountable for payroll accuracy, including end-of-year reporting
- Ensures timely and accurate filing of tax returns, GST returns and reports required to maintain corporate registrations
- Responsible for coordinating with internal departments and accountable to prepare and submit government claims for funding
- Prepares and distributes monthly financial data in a timely, accurate and reliable manner, including account reconciliations and budget variance analyses, for review with divisional managers
- Coordination and preparation of internal and external financial statements
- Serves as the principal contact with Platform Calgary’s external auditors. Ensures all materials, reports and analysis required for auditors are organized and in place to ensure smooth and efficient audit
- Assess, develop, and implement internal procedures to ensure that Platform Calgary is managed within its mandate, regulations and bylaws
- Coordinate, consolidate and report on the annual budget and forecasting process for management approval
- Prepare and optimize regular cash forecasting for management
