SENIOR ACCOUNTANT:

On behalf of our Religious Services client, Procom is searching for a Senior Accountant for a permanent role. This position is an onsite position at our client’s Vancouver office.

SENIOR ACCOUNTANT - JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Senior Accountant will be responsible for maintaining and managing the financial records of the synagogue, ensuring accurate reporting and compliance with relevant regulations. This role involves collaboration with leadership to support financial planning and analysis.

SENIOR ACCOUNTANT - MANDATORY SKILLS:

  • Proficiency in QuickBooks Desktop and ShulCloud.
  • Strong understanding of financial regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Experience in financial reporting and budget management.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Experience with payroll processing and CRA remittances.

SENIOR ACCOUNTANT – NICE-TO-HAVE SKILLS:

  • Experience in a non-profit or religious organization.
  • Knowledge of cemetery accounting practices.
  • Familiarity with Dayforce/Powerpay for payroll processing.
  • Experience with managing insurance records and negotiations.
  • Ability to liaise effectively with vendors and stakeholders.
Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director, Treasurer, and department heads to create annual budgets.
  • Maintain financial systems including ShulCloud and QuickBooks Desktop.
  • Monitor monthly budget variances; obtain necessary approvals for non-budgeted items.
  • Prepare monthly financial reporting packages for the Treasurer and Finance Committee.
  • Manage day-to-day banking, investments, and cash flow.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal and provincial regulations; file and remit necessary statutory reports.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of all financial information.
  • Process cemetery license renewals and manage the perpetual care fund.
