JOB SUMMARY

Minnesota Housing is hiring! We’re a mission-focused financial institution looking for a Senior Accountant who is responsible for preparing the monthly and quarterly financial statements for the General Reserves (GR) and the Rental Housing Bond Resolution (RH) fund indentures. This position is responsible for reviewing and preparing the loan reconciliations in the RH fund when necessary

  • Two (2) years of experience working with accounting financial statements preparing the Statement of Cash Flows and in positions that focus on generally accepted accounting principles, procedures, and practices.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance may substitute for 12 months of experience – or – an associate degree in the listed fields may substitute for 6 months of experience
  • Two (2) years of experience preparing the Statement of Cash Flows and in positions that focus on generally accepted accounting principles, procedures, and practices.
  • Two (2) years of financial statement preparation experience.
  • Intermediate experience in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated communication skills, including ability to comprehend and communicate complex information in plain language.
  • Proven ability to use analysis, problem-solving, and decision making to identify issues and problems, using the same skills to resolve the issues quickly and effectively.
  • Cultural competency as demonstrated by skills for communication and interaction across cultures and awareness of one’s own world view and that different world views exist

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with governmental financial accounting.
  • Strong knowledge of preparing the Statement of Cash Flows.
  • Solid knowledge of preparing financial statements that include the Statement of Revenue and Expenses and the Balance Sheet.
  • Financial institution experiences using AOD Emphasys accounting software experience.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

  • Accurate, timely financial reporting and insightful financial analysis for the General Reserves (GR) and Rental Housing (RH) Fund indentures.
  • Process month-end journal entries in AOD General Ledger and account reconciliations using the Application Oriented Designs (AOD) Emphasys accounting software.
  • Prepare the Statement of Revenue and Expense, Balance Sheet, and Statement of Cash Flow, and prepare quarterly analytical and associated audit schedules.
  • Balancing of the interfund accounts payable and accounts receivable accounts and reconciling loan accounts recorded in the Benedict, Group Inc. (BGI) Multifamily loan system versus the General Ledger, ensuring both systems are in agreement.
  • Reconcile the daily cash book to the Statewide Integrated Financials Tools (SWIFT) for disbursements and deposits.
  • Work with the implementation of new Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) standards as well as manage and monitor existing standards’ policies and procedures for Statement Numbers 87 - Leases; 96 - Subscription-Based Information Technology Arrangements (SBITAs), and Number 101 - Compensated Absences.
  • Provide detailed support during the interim and the fiscal year-end annual audits.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
