Description

A growing, privately held real estate client is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its accounting and finance team. This position will play a key role in supporting the financial operations of multiple residential real estate developments across several U.S. markets.
The ideal candidate brings strong real estate or construction accounting experience, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review monthly financial statements for multiple homebuilding divisions and developments
  • Perform project-level accounting, including job cost tracking, budget-to-actual variance analysis, and work-in-progress (WIP) reporting
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts related to land acquisition, construction costs, and inventory
  • Maintain accurate records for land and lot development costs, ensuring capitalization in accordance with GAAP
  • Support the month-end close process, journal entries, and accruals
  • Collaborate with construction, purchasing, and operations teams to ensure accurate financial reporting
  • Assist with internal and external audits and provide supporting documentation as needed
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and help implement efficiencies within the accounting function
  • Work cross-functionally with other departments on financial planning, forecasting, and reporting initiatives

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 4+ years of experience in accounting; real estate or construction industry preferred
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and job cost accounting principles
  • Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., Sage, JD Edwards, or similar ERP systems) and Microsoft Excel
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment
