POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Accountant plays a critical role in the financial operations of the company, preparing financial reporting, cost accounting, budgeting and variance analysis. The Senior Accountant will act as a key liaison between operations, estimating, and management to provide insights that drive profitability and efficiency in the home building process.

SKILLS:

  • CPA designation (or in final stages) preferred
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2–3 years in residential construction or real estate development.
  • Strong knowledge of construction/job cost accounting, revenue recognition, and WIP reporting.
  • Advanced Excel and financial analysis skill
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Compliance

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Maintain general ledger accounts, reconciliations, and accruals.
  • Prepare margin analysis and support pricing strategies.
  • Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and proformas.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies, regulatory requirements, and external audits.

Project & Cost Accounting

  • Track construction project budgets, job costs, and variances.
  • Prepare work-in-progress schedules and analyze project profitability.
  • Collaborate with Estimating and Construction to review project budgets, change orders, and cost-to-complete reports.
  • Provide variance analysis and cost efficiency recommendations to management.
  • Monitor direct and indirect construction costs, ensuring accuracy in allocation

Accounts Payable & Receivable Oversight

  • Review and enter vendor invoices, subcontractor draws, and progress billings for accuracy and compliance with contracts.
  • Record and track customer deposits and closings.
