ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY Richmond Country Club is currently seeking a Senior Accountant, a management-level role, to join our Administration team. In this important role, the Senior Accountant is a key contributor to the Clubs success by supporting the Director of Finance in managing day-to-day accounting functions, financial reporting, and operational financial needs. This position manages the Accounts Receivable Administrator and plays an essential part in ensuring strong financial stewardship, accurate reporting, and effective support of the Clubs overall financial operations while contributing to a collaborative and service-focused team environment. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: Financial Management & Reporting Assist the Director of Finance in preparing accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheet reconciliations, income statements, and cash flow reports. Prepare and post journal entries, perform bank reconciliations, and ensure all financial data is accurate and up-to-date. Support month-end and year-end closing processes, including preparation for audits and assisting with year-end schedules. Provide ad hoc financial analysis, reports, and reconciliations to support the Director of Finance and departmental reporting needs. Operational Support Provide backup support for Payroll, Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivable as needed. Assist in processing payments, member billing, and related financial transactions to support operational efficiency. Support cash flow monitoring and other financial operations as directed by the Director of Finance. Supervision & Team Development Mentor and support accounting team members by assigning tasks, setting deadlines, and reviewing work to ensure accuracy and adherence to procedures, including direct management of the Accounts Receivable Administrator. Promote a collaborative and service-oriented environment within the Finance team. Compliance & Controls Ensure financial records comply with internal policies, GAAP, and government regulations. Assist in maintaining internal controls, documentation, and adherence to accounting policies and procedures. Support the Director of Finance in liaising with auditors, financial institutions, and other external stakeholders. Process Improvement & Strategic Support Identify opportunities for process improvements, policy enhancements, and operational efficiencies within the accounting function. Collaborate with the Director of Finance to support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning initiatives. Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and informed decision-making within the Finance department. KEY COMPETENCIES, SKILLS, AND QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in full-cycle accounting or public practice. Working toward a CPA designation is an asset. High-level working knowledge of computerized accounting systems and financial software; familiarity with ADP payroll software and Jonas (Club Management) system is an asset. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and other relevant software. Experience with month-end and year-end closing processes, financial statement preparation, and audit support. Familiarity with budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting processes. Strong numerical aptitude, attention to detail, and analytical/problem-solving abilities. Effective organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple tasks and deadlines. Supervisory and team support skills, including mentoring, task delegation, and collaboration. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both internally and externally, with a high level of professionalism. Integrity, accountability, and commitment to maintaining financial and ethical standards. Ability to identify opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiency. Team-oriented with a collaborative mindset.
