Description Company: Diocese of San Diego Location: 3888 Paducah Dr, San Diego, CA 92117 Employment Type: Full Time, 35 hours/week onsite FLSA Status: Exempt Salary Range: $70k. – $80k. / yr. Reports to: CFO Position Overview: The Senior Accountant is responsible for all accounting functions for all Diocesan entities. This includes responsibility of the general ledger, month-end and year-end closes, budget preparation, financial reporting and analysis, and audit preparation and support. Responsibilities (include but not limited to) Management of cash including the completion and accuracy of bank and credit card reconciliations. Ensure all cash policies and processes are adhered to. Lead month-end closing procedures, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis. Reconcile and prepare month-end entries Assist with various billings including monthly, quarterly and annual basis Prepares and submits necessary periodic business filings Assist with internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation explanations of financial transactions. Maintain fixed assets and capital expenditures schedules and balance sheet workbook. Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes, enhance controls, and optimize financial reporting within Great Plains and Vena. Work closely with cross-functional teams, including finance operations, and administration, to ensure accurate financial information and efficient processes. Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, and regulatory changes to continually improve the accounting function. Supervise, mentor, and assist accounting staff. Assist in preparation of Board meeting presentation Coordinates with software vendors to maintain accounting software systems Performs projects and other duties as assigned. Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. 5 years of professional accounting and/or fiscal management experience Proficiency in Great Plains, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office Suite. Experience in Vena are a plus Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Strong analytical skills, and administrative experience Ability to multi-task and self-motivated to learn new technology. Must be able to work independently, prioritizing and meeting multiple deadlines.
