Job Title: Senior Accountant – Accounts and Bookkeeping, Auditor & Taxation
Location: Dubai
Department: Finance
Reports To: Finance Manager / Head of Finance

JOB SUMMARY:

The Senior Accountant for the Accounts and Taxation department is responsible for managing the company’s financial records, ensuring compliance with local and international tax regulations, and supporting the overall financial health of the organization. This role requires an individual with a deep understanding of accounting principles, tax laws, and the ability to handle complex financial transactions. The ideal candidate will hold an ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) or CA (Chartered Accountant) qualification.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: ACCA or CA qualification is mandatory.
  • Experience: Minimum of (1) years of experience in accounting and taxation, preferably in a corporate or public accounting environment.
  • Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS/GAAP and tax regulations.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, QuickBooks, Oracle).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Certifications: Additional certifications in tax or finance (e.g., CTA, CPA) are an advantage.
Responsibilities
  • Financial Accounting:
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including general ledger entries, reconciliations, and financial statements.
  • Prepare and review financial reports, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards (IFRS/GAAP).
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processing.
  • Tax Compliance and Planning:
  • Prepare and file corporate tax returns, ensuring compliance with local and international tax regulations.
  • Advise on tax implications of business decisions and transactions.
  • Manage VAT, GST, and other indirect tax filings.
  • Liaise with tax authorities and external auditors during tax audits.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting:
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Monitor actual performance against budget and provide variance analysis.
  • Internal Controls and Audits:
  • Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accuracy of financial data.
  • Support internal and external audit processes by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
  • Regulatory Compliance:
  • Stay updated with changes in tax laws and accounting standards and ensure the company’s financial practices align with legal requirements.
  • Prepare and submit statutory financial statements and reports.
  • Financial Analysis and Reporting:
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings or revenue enhancement.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to management for strategic decision-making.
  • Team Leadership and Development:
  • Supervise and mentor junior accountants, providing guidance and support in their professional development.
  • Foster a collaborative and efficient working environment within the finance team.
