Description

Role Description The Senior Accountant is a full-time, on-site role based in the Greater Adelaide Area. This position is responsible for preparing and reviewing financial statements, managing general ledgers, and overseeing month-end and year-end close processes. The Senior Accountant will handle tax compliance and planning, including preparing returns, reviewing work prepared by junior team members, and advising clients on tax implications and structuring. Day-to-day work includes managing client portfolios, analyzing financial performance, identifying risks and opportunities, and presenting clear recommendations to support business decisions. The role also involves mentoring less experienced team members, collaborating with partners on complex engagements, and ensuring all work meets regulatory requirements and firm quality standards.

Qualifications

  • Strong technical accounting skills, including financial reporting, general ledger management, and month-end/year-end close.
  • Proficiency in tax compliance and planning, with experience preparing and reviewing individual and business tax returns.
  • Experience using accounting software and practice management tools; advanced skills in spreadsheets and data analysis.
  • Ability to manage multiple client engagements, prioritize workloads, and meet deadlines with attention to detail.
  • Clear, professional communication skills, including the ability to explain complex financial concepts in plain language.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and support junior team members and work collaboratively within a small firm environment.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; professional accreditation (e.g., CA/CPA) or progress toward it strongly preferred.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of applicable accounting standards, taxation legislation, and regulatory requirements.
  • Client-focused mindset with a commitment to proactive advice, ethical practice, and continuous professional development.
