About Us We’re the SerenaGroup, a rapidly expanding Clinical Trials company known for doing things right. Our finance team is small but impactful, and we’re eager to bring in a senior accountant who can help us grow with confidence. What You’ll Do Lead the month-end and year-end closing processes. Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements Manage general ledger accounts and reconcile statements Support audits, tax filings, and compliance Mentor junior accountants and support their development Identify opportunities for process improvements and assist in implementing best practices. Work with cross-functional teams on budgeting and forecasting. Ensure all accounting activities adhere to applicable laws and company policies. What We’re Looking For In a Senior Accountant The Senior Accountant handles complex accounting tasks, analyzes financial data, prepares financial statements and reports, manages accounts payable and receivable, and ensures adherence to accounting standards like GAAP. This role supports audits and tax preparation, may supervise junior staff, and helps develop and improve accounting systems and internal controls. Key skills include strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, proficiency with accounting software, and excellent communication. Essential Functions Financial Reporting & Analysis: Prepare and analyze financial statements, reconcile accounts, and conduct variance analysis to spot trends and provide actionable insights. Account Management: Oversee accounts payable and receivable, maintain the general ledger, and ensure timely and accurate bank and ledger reconciliations. Act as the primary contact for transactional banking activities (Deposits, ACH, Positive Pay, etc.). Audit & Tax Assistance: Support internal and external audits and help prepare federal, state, and local tax returns. Compliance & Controls: Ensure adherence to GAAP and internal policies. Assist in developing and strengthening accounting systems and promote a robust internal control environment. Mentorship: Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff. Process Improvement: Create and implement new procedures and systems to increase efficiency and accuracy. Budgeting and Forecasting: Support in financial planning, budget creation, and expenditure prediction. Accounting Operations: Promote innovation and efficiency in workflow processes through technology adoption, systematization, and ongoing process improvement. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. Experience in public or corporate accounting required. Minimum five (5) years of progressively responsible accounting experience. Proficiency in QuickBooks and advanced MS Excel skills. Other accounting software similar to QuickBooks may also be acceptable. Strong attention to detail, organizational and analytical skills, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication. Extensive understanding of GAAP and financial statements. CPA preferred. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Accountability Provide timely and accurate accounting functions and reporting, collaborate with other departments, and offer financial guidance to management and executives.
