Responsibilities

We are looking for a Senior Accountant to join the Nonfiction Team. The Senior Accountant will work out of our Van Nuys office and report to the Corporate Controller. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for accounting and finance aspects for television and music. This includes period-end close, financial reporting and analysis, profit participation reporting to third parties, budgets and reforecasts, and ad-hoc reporting as required. A successful Senior Accountant combines excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to analyze financial reports. The selected candidate will be hard-working, independent, and a quick learner.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare divisional financial statements and supporting schedules monthly.
  • Provide budget-to-actual and prior year-to-actual analysis with commentary.
  • Create annual budgets and quarterly forecasts.
  • Liaise with staff and business partners to obtain any needed information.
  • Liaise with TV production finance teams to ensure accuracy of data.
  • Review and analyze third-party reporting including international distribution sales, merchandising sales, music royalties, and touring activities. Follow up with providers to resolve discrepancies.
  • Prepare journal entries.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts, including resolution of discrepancies.
  • Calculate third-party participation statements.
  • Other duties / special projects as assigned.

The anticipated base salary for this position is $99,200 - $118,000. This role is overtime eligible and may also qualify for annual incentive and/or comprehensive benefits. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location of the position
