Job #4896 – For over two decades, our locally-owned and operated client has been recognized as an industry leader in the Ottawa community. They are currently seeking a Senior Accountant to join their collaborative finance team for an 18-month contract. The ideal candidate is self-motivated and communicative, with a solid accounting foundation and the flexibility to handle both transactional and higher-level functions in a fast-paced environment. In this role, the Senior Accountant will support the CFO by managing day-to-day accounting operations across a group of companies, ensuring accurate financial reporting and strong internal controls. Main responsibilities include:

  • Manage month and year-end close, financial statements, general ledger and reconciliations (AP, AR, billing, payroll)
  • Provide vacation coverage and assist with day-to-day transactions during peak periods
  • Maintain internal controls, policies, and best practices
  • Coordinate and support year-end audits
  • Support budgeting and forecasting, variance analysis, revenue reconciliation, cost tracking and cash flow reporting
  • Ensure compliance with ASPE and tax filings (HST, payroll remittance)
  • Ad hoc duties as requested

QUALIFICATIONS

The main qualifications for this role include:

  • Post-secondary education in accounting and/or finance required
  • Minimum 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting
  • Good understanding of ASPE
  • Previous supervisory experience considered an asset
  • Proficient in Excel
  • Bilingualism – French/English is an asset
