Description

About Red Earth CPA
At Red Earth CPA, we’re not just keeping books and filing returns, we’re redefining what a public accounting firm can be.
We’ve built a high-responsiveness firm dedicated to one industry: Managed Service Providers (MSPs) and IT service companies.
Why? Because when you focus on one niche, you can deliver specialized, proactive advice that actually moves the needle for clients.
We’ve traded in the “this is how we’ve always done it” mindset for something far better — cloud-based technology, a responsive and knowledgeable team, and a culture where accountants are trusted advisors, not just number-crunchers.
You’ll be joining a fully remote team that’s serious about doing great work while giving you the freedom to work from anywhere, the tools to be effective, and the support to keep growing.
The Role
We’re looking for a Senior Accountant (Tax Focused) who’s ready to take ownership of client relationships, review complex returns, and guide projects that matter.
While this role is primarily tax-focused, reviewing and preparing returns for S corps, partnerships, individuals, and multi-state filings, you’ll also have the opportunity to be involved in special projects and advisory engagements. You won’t be buried in monthly bookkeeping; your focus will be on high-impact work and helping clients achieve financial clarity.

What You’ll Do

  • Review complex federal and multi-state tax returns (1120-S, 1065, 1040, and related schedules).
  • Lead client relationships, acting as the go-to resource for tax strategy, planning, and resolution.
  • Prepare advanced returns and advise on unique tax issues
  • Oversee and mentor junior team members on tax technical skills and client communication.
  • Research and apply solutions to complex tax questions.
  • Identify tax-saving opportunities and additional ways we can support clients (CAS, advisory).
  • Participate in ongoing process improvements to keep our work efficient, consistent, and client-friendly.

Why You’ll Love Working Here

  • Niche Expertise – You’ll work with MSPs and IT service providers across the country, mastering the financial and tax strategies unique to their world.
  • Work from Anywhere – Your office is wherever you want it to be.
  • Flexible Schedule – We work 9 AM–4 PM ET as a core team but trust you to manage your own time to hit deadlines.
  • Growth-Minded – We invest heavily in training and development, and you’ll have opportunities to learn new skills and earn certifications.
  • Supportive Team – Regular huddles, weekly meetings, and a culture of responsiveness mean you’re never working in isolation.

Benefits

  • 3 weeks PTO
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Health insurance stipend
  • Company-provided laptop, second monitor, and technology support
  • Paid professional development, certifications, and training opportunities

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience:
  • 3–5 years in public accounting, with a strong tax focus

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Accounting preferred (not required)
  • CPA or EA preferred (not required)
  • Skills & Traits:
  • Proactive communicator who builds trust with clients
  • Strong technical tax knowledge and ability to mentor others
  • Comfortable in a remote, tech-driven environment
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and deadlines
