OVERVIEW

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Junior Accountant to join our dynamic financial team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting our accounting department by managing various financial tasks, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and contributing to the overall efficiency of our financial operations. SUMMARY

Reporting to the Vice President, the Financial Reporting and Administration Manager is a member of the Company’s senior management team. The incumbent will be responsible for the day to day accounting function, assisting with the preparation of month-end and year-end financial statements, supporting budgeting, forecasting, and reporting functions; as well as assisting with other initiatives as needed. As a strategic partner on the leadership team, the FR&A Manager works closely with the other team members to ensure Company performance expectations are met and seeks to maximize efficiency and productivity through process analysis and interdepartmental collaboration; recommending solutions for improvement when necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES & EXPERIENCE:

The position requires an energetic team player who understands how to effectively drive results in a fast-paced environment and adapt quickly to change. The candidate must help identify opportunities to improve productivity; innovating to solve business problems creatively, showing a willingness to immediately tackle key challenges, be goal-oriented and comfortable with fostering cross-functional collaboration across all departments.

  • Degree from an accredited institution in Accounting or equivalent experience
  • A minimum of 3 years experience working with finance, accounting and bookkeeping applications
  • Must be results driven and utilize knowledge to meet or exceed KPIs and goals.
  • Able to prioritize responsibilities with the appropriate level of urgency while quickly adapting to an ever-changing business environment.
  • Able to listen effectively to solve problems, anticipate issues and make effective decisions.
  • Proven proficiency required in QuickBooks
  • Must take accountability and responsibility for actions.
  • Must have proven time management skills, demonstrating the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines consistently.
  • Must have superior communication skills; verbal, written and interpersonal.
  • Must work collaboratively with fellow employees, treating all clients, both internal and external with dignity and respect at all times.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $75,000.00-$80,000.00 per year

Responsibilities
  • Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures and supports company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity
  • Responsible to meet or exceed all goals and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Oversees or directly handles AP and AR
  • Verifies staff hours, runs payroll and communicates with outside vendor (Payworks)
  • Maintains all financial records – GL entries, Payroll
  • Prepares cheques and reports, as required
  • Submits all government remittances (payroll, GST, HST, tax instalments)
  • Cash Management - Bank deposits and statements reconciliations, end of day sales, credit cards monitoring and credit card statements reconciliations
  • Processes license, contract & permit renewals
  • Prepares month end & year end transactions
  • Prepares internal financial reports monthly, or as requested
  • Issues T4s, T4As, T5s & NR4s at year end, ROE’s as required
  • Reconciles intercompany transactions
  • Coordinates with external accountant for all tax compliance and financial reporting
  • Assists in developing annual budget to fund operations, minimize expenses, and increase efficiency
  • Acts with integrity and trust, modeling behavior that respects employees, peers and customers in accordance with the core values of the Company.
