Description Senior Accountant General Description: The Senior Accountant supports Montgomery County Coalition for the Homeless (MCCH) and Coalition Homes & Affiliates (CH) and is responsible for accounting areas including but not limited to accounts payable, accounts receivable invoicing, daily banking activity, journal entries, expense management, and bank reconciliations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Reconcile monthly program director credit card statements and verify accuracy of charges. Code and enter all credit card expenses to appropriate accounting software within established monthly deadline • Daily banking downloads for detail activity in MCCH bank accounts to maintain current and accurate balances in accounting system. • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for review and approval for all MCCH and CH bank accounts. • Prepare monthly accounts receivable invoices for assigned program areas including but not limited to cost reimbursement calculations and preparation of required supporting documentation • Import and maintain monthly journal entries for assigned areas, including but not limited to payroll, fringe benefits, prepaid expenses, and indirect expenses • Reconcile assigned balance sheets accounts, including but not limited to prepaid expenses and due to/due from affiliated entities • Functions as primary back up for Accounts Payable for Coalition Homes and Affiliates including invoice coding, invoice processing, check processing, check signing and mailing • Responds to inquiries from program directors, senior management, vendors and staff • Assists in audit preparation including but not limited to preparation of audit schedules • Administrative duties and other projects as assigned Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: • BS/BA Degree in Accounting required. • Minimum five years related accounting experience in a fast-paced office environment • Functional knowledge of large accounting software programs, QuickBooks, Financial Edge, Yardi, and Excel. • Functional knowledge of basic accrual accounting principles • Must be detail oriented and able to work with accounting complexity for multiple entities and cost centers.
