An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled and driven Senior Accountant to join a progressive and purpose-led organisation based in Aberdeen. This is a hands-on, high-impact role where you’ll be instrumental in ensuring the smooth operation of the finance function.
Your remit will span payroll, pensions, management accounts, and the supervision of a small team, offering both variety and responsibility.

ABOUT YOU:

We’re looking for someone who is highly organised, detail-oriented, and confident in taking ownership of a broad range of responsibilities. You will bring:

  • Relevant experience in a similar accounting role.
  • A recognised accounting qualification (CIMA, ACA, ACCA, ICAS) or be working towards one.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll, pensions, and accounting practices.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
  • High levels of accuracy, numeracy, and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and accounting systems.
  • Strong communication skills and a discreet, professional approach.
Responsibilities

THE ROLE:

Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will be responsible for:

  • Managing day-to-day finance operations, including overseeing Purchase Ledger and supplier payments.
  • Delivering the monthly close process, including journals, reconciliations, and reporting.
  • Running monthly payroll across multiple schemes, ensuring compliance with HMRC and pension regulations.
  • Supporting pension scheme administration and liaising with providers.
  • Preparing management accounts, profit and loss reports, variance analysis, and other month-end reporting.
  • Supervising and developing an Accounts Assistant to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Providing cover for the Financial Controller when required and responding to audit requests.
