Here’s a little about Tower Foundation of San José State University and the position they are recruiting for: About the Tower Foundation The Tower Foundation of San José State University serves as the university’s philanthropic partner, managing endowments and donations that power student success, research, and academic innovation. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, the Foundation ensures that gifts are managed effectively and used to advance the mission of San José State University (SJSU). https://www.sjsu.edu/towerfoundation/ Overview: This role reports into the Controller, and oversees the accounting, reconciliation, and reporting for the Foundation’s $230+ million endowment and non-endowment portfolio. The role drives essential financial operations, creating financial models for annual distributions, preparing reports for campus partners, reviewing complex endowment agreements, and ensuring compliance with GAAP, GAAS, and UPMIFA. The Senior Endowment Accountant also serves as a liaison between the Foundation and campus departments, providing responsive and insightful guidance on fund usage and donor intent. Key Responsibilities Prepare monthly investment reconciliations, forecasts, and variance analyses. Manage endowment reporting and distribution processes. Review and interpret gift agreements and planned giving instruments. Develop and maintain endowment financial models and Fundriver endowment system. Support audits and provide data for financial statement disclosures. Communicate with campus partners and donors regarding fund performance and compliance. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (or equivalent experience). Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience. Strong command of GAAP and financial reporting. Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, macros). CPA preferred. Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities.
