Job Description We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly analytical Senior Accountant for our Newton, NC location with a strong understanding of both revenue and expense recognition principles under U.S. GAAP. This role is responsible for reviewing financial transactions, analyzing contracts, and ensuring accurate and timely recognition of income and expenses. The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational skills, a solid foundation in accounting, and a strong ability to identify and resolve discrepancies. Accurately recognize revenue and expenses in compliance with GAAP and matching principles. Review customer contracts, vendor agreements, and purchase orders to ensure proper accounting treatment. Prepare and post journal entries related to deferred revenue, accrued expenses, prepaid expenses, and contract assets/liabilities. Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts related to revenue and expenses, including schedules for deferred revenue, accrued liabilities, and prepaids. Work closely with operations, sales, legal, and procurement to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial records. Support the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring all revenue and expense items are appropriately recorded. Investigate and resolve variances, errors, and unusual activity in financial statements. Assist with internal and external audits by preparing documentation and responding to audit requests. Continuously improve processes related to revenue and expense tracking, recognition, and reporting. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, or 2+ years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a revenue- or expense-focused role. Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and familiar with accounting/ERP systems (e.g., Great Plains and NetSuite). High attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and time-management skills. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally. Experience in multi-entity accounting, multi-currency accounting, and Great Plains.
