Senior Accountant – FULL TIME– Charlottesville SUMMARY: A successful Senior Accountant will diligently and accurately maintain the UVA Community Credit Union’s accounting records and reports. Significant effort will be directed towards ensuring that accounting work is in compliance with standard accounting procedures and is completed within established timeframes with no unresolved errors. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES: Post, review, and verify accuracy of journal entries and accounting classifications assigned to various records. Develop, implement, modify, and document recordkeeping and accounting systems. Prepare monthly reconciliations and various other accounting statements and reports. Complete accounting functions in accordance with GAAP and established Credit Union policies and procedures. Prepare internal or external financial reports. Report to management regarding the finances of the Credit Union. Calculate taxes owed and prepare tax returns. Work collaboratively and efficiently with Accounting team to appropriately prioritize tasks and meet deadlines. Maintain a close working relationship with Accounting leadership to ensure that any problems are addressed quickly and efficiently. Requirements QUALIFICATIONS: 4 to 6 years of similar or related experience Previous accounting experience with credit unions or other financial institutions is preferred Equivalent to a college degree required Certified Public Accountant designation preferred BENEFITS: We offer an attractive suite of benefits to employees who work an average of 20 hours per week or more, including: Health, Dental, Vision, up to a 7% employer 401(k) contribution after the first year of employment.
