As the leader in single family rental communities, Elmington Residential offers residents a place to call home: a home with exceptional design features, privacy, walkability, and a maintenance-free experience.   POSITION SUMMARY This position performs a variety of professional level accounting duties such as preparing, maintaining, analyzing, verifying, and reconciling complex financial transactions, statements, records, and reports. This position is also responsible for maintaining the accuracy of ledgers and financial systems as well as assisting in the preparation of assigned budgets, annual audit, and year end closing. KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES: * Financial management * Understanding of GAAP fundamentals * Technical capacity * Ethical conduct * Communication proficiency * Relationship management   ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS * Prepares asset, liability, and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing account information * Documents financial transactions by entering account information * Summarizes current financial status by collecting information * Prepares balance sheets, profit and loss statements and other reports * Substantiates financial transactions by auditing documents * Guides accounting clerical staff by coordinating activities and answering questions * Reconciles financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information * Maintains financial security by following internal controls * Prepares payments by verifying documentation and requesting disbursements * Prepares special financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends * Reconciles monthly bank statements and is responsible for cash management * Maintains customer confidence and protects operations by keeping financial information confidential * Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks and participating in professional organizations * Reviews financial reports completed by accountants and ensures that all deadlines are met within their portfolio * Performs other duties as assigned SPECIFIC EDUCATION OR EXPERIENCE: * Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required * CPA certification preferred, but not required * 3-5 years of accounting experience   The Elmington Experience We're creating a different kind of company at OneElmington.
