Optional coverage for dental, and short/long term disability. Critical Tasks: Collaborate with the Controller, CFO, and Department Leaders to support accounting and reporting needs. Oversee and maintain the integrity of the general ledger, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close processes Analyze and resolve discrepancies in financial data in collaboration with other departments and accounting staff Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements and roll-forwards. Assist with the preparation of support for the annual Financial Statement Audit and Single Audit Review and analyze general ledger expense accounts to ensure they are correctly coded and posted into the accounting system Monitor compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and reporting standards Provide guidance and support to junior accounting staff Assist with budget tracking and financial planning efforts Prepare prepaid expense amortizations and other expense accruals for month-end and year-end financial close process Patient Revenue recognition – ensure all patient revenues are recognized and processed in a timely manner and correctly coded and posted into the accounting system Perform GL account analysis and support ad hoc reporting Support grant accounting and prepare tax and inventory reports Assist as needed with grant accounting adjustments and reporting Back-up staff accountants with Credit Card spend postings and reporting, Electronic (EFT) deposit tracking, pharmacy cost invoice processing, and other tasks and duties as needed Provide backup for other finance functions as needed Key Performance Indicators: Clear, timely, and professional communication, especially when addressing sensitive financial matters. Ability to offer constructive solutions while preserving strong working relationships Clear, concise verbal and written communications. Timely follow up to voice mail, email and employee inquiry High level of accuracy, time management, and attention to detail. Polite and professional interaction with employees. Positive, team-oriented approach to cross-department collaboration. Demonstrated understanding of Navajo culture or willingness to learn and respect traditions. Requirements Experience, Training, and Qualifications needed to perform the job Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in accounting, finance, or business administration; Must have minimum of two (2) years working for a public accounting firm (preferably with a national firm) with experience performing Single Audit engagements or minimum of four (5) years general ledger accounting experience with at least 2 year as a senior accountant, preferably in a governmental, tribal, or non-profit organization; Experience: Strong knowledge and understanding of GAAP; Experience with accounting software systems (e.g., MIP, Sage, or similar); Experience with Federal Uniform Guidance requirements and federal / state grants; Knowledge: Have ability to explain financial information clearly and tactfully to non-financial personnel. Possess Emotional intelligence and professionalism in handling sensitive or complex issues. Address financial discrepancies with clarity, tact, and a solution-oriented mindset. Foster a positive, respectful culture of collaboration and shared responsibility. Approach challenges with a calm demeanor and an appreciation for diverse perspectives. Additional Skill and Abilities: Proficiency with Word, Excel and PowerPoint software applications. Strong leadership skills Strong attention to detail Effective time management skills, ability to meet deadlines and organizational ability. Excellent written and verbal communication skills Knowledge of Navajo cultural and tradition, or willing to learn License/Certification: CPA is preferred, but not required. Proof of up-to-date PPD skin testing, if previously negative (OR) Proof of positive PPD skin test with the most recent chest x-ray and treatment history. Tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis (Tdap). Varicella titers, history of varicella or varicella immunization series. Influenza vaccine for the current year. Any other vaccinations as requested.
