Vaco is hiring for a Sr. Accountant opportunity in Cleveland OH.
Direct Hire, Hybrid Schedule
Salary: 70-85,000/yr

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 4+ years of accounting experience, preferably in healthcare, nonprofit, or behavioral/mental health settings.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal controls.
  • Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, or NetSuite.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, etc.).
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform and oversee monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
  • Maintain the general ledger and ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
  • Prepare financial reports for management, board meetings, and grant/funding agencies.
  • Reconcile accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and bank accounts.
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and forecasts.
  • Monitor program and department-level financial performance, providing variance analysis and insights.
  • Support the preparation of annual audits and liaise with external auditors.
  • Ensure proper documentation and compliance with healthcare regulations and funding/grant requirements.
  • Assist with grant tracking, expense allocations, and funder reporting.
  • Implement and improve internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures.
