Description
The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing complex accounting functions and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the organization’s financial operations. This role provides leadership and oversight to accounting staff, manages compliance with federal grants and cooperative agreements, and partners with company executives on financial strategies and planning. A strong background in working with ORR programs and federal cooperative agreements is required. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Oversee daily cash management activities. Manage drawdowns from the Federal award system. Responsible for all financial operations related to federal cost reimbursement grants. Oversee expense management related to ORR grants and cooperative agreements, ensuring compliance and accuracy within Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) guidelines. Complete journal entries and account reconciliations. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Maintain and manage debt schedules, depreciation schedules, and related entries. Ensure accuracy in operating and revenue leases and contracts. Provide support for annual external audits. Ensure compliance with GAAP accounting standards and federal regulations related to grants. Support contracts and procurement processes. Assist with tax planning and compliance for local, state, and federal tax obligations. SKILLS & ABILITIES: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams. Strong leadership and relationship-building abilities with a positive, solutions-oriented approach. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also thriving in a team environment. Exceptional organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Ability to interpret and apply GAAP, FAR, and federal grant compliance requirements. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related business field required. Minimum of 2 years of professional accounting experience required. Direct experience working with ORR programs and federal cooperative agreements required. CPA designation preferred. QUALIFICATIONS: Must be 21 years of age or older. Must have a valid driver’s license and be eligible to drive to facilitate program services as required.
