QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 5–10 years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Solid understanding of GAAP and financial reporting fundamentals.
  • Strong Excel skills; experience with ERP systems (Spectrum or similar construction software preferred).
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

ROLE SUMMARY:

Midwest Drywall is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to support the company’s financial operations with a focus on general ledger accounting, month-end close, reconciliations, and internal reporting. This position is ideal for someone with strong foundational accounting skills who is ready to take ownership of key processes and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the finance department.
This role plays a critical part in maintaining the integrity of financial data and ensuring timely, accurate reporting. The Senior Accountant will work closely with the Director of Finance and collaborate with other departments to support company-wide financial accuracy and compliance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

General Accounting & Close

  • Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual close procedures, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Maintain the general ledger and ensure transactions are recorded in compliance with GAAP.
  • Monitor and reconcile balance sheet accounts, including prepaid expenses, accruals, and fixed assets.
  • Maintain and update depreciation schedules and record monthly depreciation entries.

Financial Reporting & Compliance

  • Assist in the preparation of internal financial statements and support schedules.
  • Help ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and external audit requirements.
  • Provide support during audits by preparing schedules, reconciliations, and responding to auditor inquiries.

Process Improvement & Controls

  • Identify opportunities to streamline and improve accounting processes.
  • Support enhancements to inventory tracking processes, including system accuracy, valuation methods, and reconciliation procedures.
  • Document procedures to support consistency and training.
  • Support the implementation of accounting policies and best practices.

Cross-Functional Support

  • Partner with AP, AR, and payroll teams as needed to support departmental needs and close timelines.
  • Assist the Director of Finance with special projects, ad hoc reporting, and financial analysis.
  • Collaborate with project teams and operational leaders on financial questions or account coding issues.
