JOB DESCRIPTION – SENIOR ACCOUNTANT

Position Type: Full-Time, Exempt
Location: Corporate Office
Salary Range: $63,000 – $70,000 (commensurate with experience)

Wiregrass Resource Group is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Accountant to oversee the organization’s financial operations and employee benefits administration. This role requires strong accounting knowledge, QuickBooks Online expertise, and the ability to think strategically while managing day-to-day financial functions.
The Senior Accountant will oversee billing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, benefits, budgeting, financial reporting, and audits. They will also be responsible for journal entries, reconciliations, and assisting with month-end close. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership skills, preferred nonprofit accounting preferred, and the ability to provide excellent customer service while working with both internal staff and external partners.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Strong attention to detail: Essential for accurate data entry and error identification.
  • Proficiency in billing/accounting software: QuickBooks Online experience is required.
  • Analytical skills: Ability to analyze financial and billing data to identify issues and trends.
  • Numerical accuracy: Precision in calculating charges, balances, and reconciliations.
  • Communication skills: Clear, professional interaction with staff, clients, and external stakeholders.
  • Organizational skills: Efficiently managing invoices, accounts, payroll, and reporting deadlines.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 2 years’ accounting experience OR
  • In lieu of degree-related experience, minimum of 5+ years of demonstrated experience in billing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, benefits administration, budgeting, audits, journal entries, and reconciliations.
  • Technical Skills:
  • QuickBooks Online experience is required.
  • Proficiency with payroll and benefits systems, Microsoft Office, and Google Workspace.
  • Preferred: Nonprofit accounting experience.
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to resolve conflicts effectively.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management abilities.
