JOB SUMMARY:

Agenda Events is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant with a strong background in travel and tourism accounting. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the day-to-day financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting, and maintaining compliance with local regulations. This role requires in-depth knowledge of accounting practices in the tourism, events, and travel sectors.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or equivalent certification preferred).
  • Minimum 2–5 years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in the travel, tourism, or events industry.
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles (IFRS/GAAP), financial regulations, and taxation in the UAE.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Tally, Zoho Books, or similar ERP systems).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, client-oriented environment.

Responsibilities
  • Manage full-cycle accounting including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliations, and month-end/year-end closing.
  • Prepare and review financial statements and reports in compliance with company and legal standards.
  • Monitor cash flow, prepare forecasts, and manage budgeting processes.
  • Reconcile travel-related accounts such as customer deposits, vendor invoices, tour payments, hotel and airline bookings, etc.
  • Ensure accurate tracking of travel packages, tours, and event-related revenues and expenses.
  • Liaise with operations and travel teams to track and validate expenses, commissions, and margins.
  • Maintain compliance with VAT, corporate tax, and other regulatory reporting.
  • Coordinate with auditors and support the preparation of audited financial statements.
  • Supervise junior accounting staff and support the finance team with training and performance reviews.
  • Evaluate financial performance and identify areas for improvement, cost-saving, or process optimization.
  • Handle financial data entry and maintain up-to-date accounting records using ERP/accounting systems.
