Description:

American National is seeking a full-time, Senior Accounting Analyst to join the investment accounting team. To thrive in this position, you will have experience in GAAP and/or Statutory accounting, regulatory reporting, be innately detailed oriented, a critical thinker, understand how to reconcile investment transactions, and performed monthly/quarterly/year-end closes.
Onsite Placement Options: League City, Galveston, Houston, San Antonio, Texas-Des Moines, Iowa, Chicago Illinois, Glenmont, New York, and Springfield, Missouri

What will you do?

  • Responsible for ongoing activities as part of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close cycles for Investments for the company and insurance subsidiaries
  • Perform reconciliations of investment data for ledger tie outs on a GAAP and STAT basis
  • Provides supporting tie-out schedules for financial statements for certain GAAP and statutory disclosures
  • Closely partner with outsourced investment accounting provider to produce statutory schedules, meet reporting requirements
  • Prepares Annual Rating Agency Surveys for invested assets
  • Manages priorities effectively and adapts quickly
  • Support annual regulatory financial statement audit requests, participating in auditor discussions

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related major
  • STAT/GAAP Reporting experience is strongly preferred
  • Understanding of insurance investment accounting in accordance with GAAP and statutory principles
  • Strong analytical skills: ability to analyze financial data sets and tell the story of the data
  • Experience with SAP and Clearwater preferred
  • Ability to manage priority items and produce results accurately under deadlines
  • Demonstrated independence to complete tasks with minimal supervision
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively work with other departments
  • A self-starter, self-motivated, self-disciplined and performance driven
  • Ability to work hours outside of normal business operations, during peak periods
