ABOUT US:

MetaOptima is an innovative and fast-growing company seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Senior Accounting & Financial Operations Specialist. This role is critical in ensuring the smooth functioning of our financial processes, reporting, and compliance obligations across multiple entities and jurisdictions.
The ideal candidate must be able to communicate effectively and resolve any accounting issues in coordination with various accountants and consultants in Australia and the United States.
Key Responsibilities:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree on accounting, finance or equivalent
  • CPA designation is a plus, planning to pursue or working towards CPA is highly encouraged to apply
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in accounting and financial operations.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
  • Proficiency with accounting software (Xero, QuickBooks, etc.) and Excel.
  • Experience with multi-entity, multi-currency financial management.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams.
  • Experience with government grant programs and claims processes is a strong asset.
    Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
Responsibilities

DAILY & WEEKLY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform daily cash and bank balance checks across multiple banking platforms
  • Monitor accounts receivable (AR) and accounts payable (AP)
  • Review and approve payments
  • Conduct daily bookkeeping tasks, including reconciliation of bank and credit card accounts
  • Prepare and maintain cashflow forecasts.

MONTHLY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform month-end closing and consolidation checking.
  • Manage all month-end and financial reporting

QUARTERLY & ANNUAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate and manage all corporate tax filings, including any government required filings.
  • Oversee annual insurance renewal processes.
  • Support and coordinate annual audit processes.
  • Manage and update accounting policy and procedures documentation.
  • Handle government funding claims and support the applications to different funding opportunities

PROJECT & PROCESS IMPROVEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead accounting process problem-solving, training, and documentation.
  • Manage invoicing automation and other accounting projects.
  • Coordinate with internal and external teams on operations projects
  • Support payroll commissions and related calculations.
  • Drive process efficiencies and system improvements across financial operations.
